start? Then this 4 week introductory course is for you. This class is for absolute beginners, or those with experience in other mediums who would like to use
oil paints. Over the 3 week short course you will learn to paint with oil paints through a range exercises designed to teach you the fundamentals and gain confidence week by week.

 

This class is also for those wishing to continue the skills they learnt in the introductory class.

LEARN TO DRAW AND PAINT PORTRAITS / STARTS 22 OCTOBER

This painting class is for students who want to learn how to paint portraits well.
In this class you will learn skills required to produce accurate and meaningful portraits through a series of exercises. Throughout the planned exercises, Marie works with each student at his/her own level, and works to progress each student’s ambitions. Students will benefit from doing tonal studies and colour mixing, and will cater for students who wish to improve their painting skills using their choice of medium. While Marie’s primary interest is oil painting, acrylic painters and watercolour painters will also benefit from this course. 
This class is for students with prior experience in their chosen medium.

In this two day workshop discover how to create a mood in your paintings. Learn how to create the sensation of light, atmosphere and space through observing tone. Discover how to give the illusion of reality in your painting. You will learn to temporarily eliminate detail
but have surprisingly realistic results.

STILL-LIFE PAINTING / WORKSHOP / 11 JULY - 15 AUGUST 2019

Thursday 10am-1pm  Blue Mountains Cultural Center  I  Katoomba


In this still-life painting class learn how to bring a sense of reality and atmosphere to your work. Over this 6 week course learn the fundamentals of tonal painting by observing light, tone and proportion. You will learn how to mix colours, and be taken through a series of exercises and demonstrations to build on skills week by week and create several of your own still-life painting studies in either acrylic and oils.

PORTRAIT PAINTING / WEEKEND WORKSHOP / 19-20 OCTOBER

2 Days  I  Weekend  I  All Saints Church Hall Woollahra I FULL


In this two day oil painting workshop you will learn the proportions
and characteristics of the head. You will start your portrait study by observing a life model and will be introduced to mixing a tonal palette in oils. On day two students will continue with their portrait study in oil with the model. 

Suitable for most levels including people wishing to refresh their skills or beginners with some experience in oils.

Enjoy a gourmet lunch with wine and panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, plus wine and cheese and a fireside chat at the end of day 1.
An apron and an easel will be provided on the day. You will need to purchase the materials list below or can be included in your package when you order.

 

Enjoy a glass of Pinot while capturing a likeness in your portraits in the relaxed environment of East Coast Lounge. You will start your portrait study with a life model while observing the characteristics of the head and face. Students will start with a tonal study and learn how to observe proportion and tone, then how to mix a limited palette in oils. On day two students will continue with a portrait study in oil with a life model.
